A Resume That Passes the ATS and the Human
You already know the basics (.docx, no tables/graphics, copy the JD's keywords — it's in the Local playbook). Now the deeper part: how to write content na may dating.
The bullet formula: Action verb + what you did + a number
| Weak ❌ | Strong ✅ |
|---|---|
| "Answered customer concerns" | "Handled 60–80 inbound calls per shift for a US telco account, resolving billing disputes while maintaining 92% QA compliance" |
| "Responded to inquiries through online channels" | "Managed 45–60 daily email/chat cases via Zendesk, keeping CSAT above team targets" |
| "Troubleshooting network issues" (OJT) | "Assisted in troubleshooting network issues, resulting in a 15% reduction in downtime" |
Numbers BPO recruiters look for: QA score, CSAT, AHT, FCR, sales conversion, attendance. You don't need a number on every line — 2–3 good metrics, sapat na. Words to avoid: "hardworking" with no proof, and weak verbs like "helped / assisted / worked on."
"I have no experience" — you do, you just don't see it
Sari-sari store / family business: that's legit experience — just give it a functional title, not "anak ng may-ari." Example: "Sari-sari Store (family-owned) | Store Assistant | 2022–2024 — Managed daily sales of ₱3,000–5,000, tracked inventory of 150+ items, handled GCash payments and the utang ledger for ~40 regular customers." Just swap in your real numbers.
Campus org: "Led a 10-member team, produced 6 issues, increased readership by 30%." Online selling: proof of communication and customer handling — list it. Thesis/capstone: one line under Education. OJT: if it's related to your target job, put it in Work Experience mismo.
Zero-experience resume order: Contact → Summary → Skills → Education → Project/Org Experience → Achievements.
Have a gap or job-hop a lot?
A gap under 6 months: no need to explain it. Longer? Name it honestly: "Caregiving Leave," "Freelance Projects," "Professional Development — completed [cert]." You can use years-only dates ("2023–2024") so short stints don't scream — but huwag kang mag-imbento ng dates, that's falsification.
BPO account-hopping: if you moved across accounts within one BPO, combine it into a single employer entry with sub-lines per account — three "jobs" then look like one 3-year tenure. Patunayan pa It's a practical move but no recruiter survey confirms it yet — we'll test it with real recruiters.
What to REMOVE (the "biodata hangover")
Age/birthdate · civil status · religion · height/weight (unless the job ad asks — FA, security) · spouse/children's names · full street address (city/province lang) · salary history · expected salary (that goes in the interview or a form field, not the resume) · "References available upon request."
Character references: not needed on the resume — prepare a separate sheet with 3 names, hand it over when asked. Exception: government (needs 3 references na HINDI mo kamag-anak in the PDS).
Length: 1 page for fresh grad/entry/BPO; 2 pages once you have 5+ years.
Credentials: how to write them
"Licensed [Profession] — PRC License No. XXXXX, issued [Month Year]"
"Top 10, November 2022 CPA Board Exam" (include the rating only if it's impressive)
"Civil Service Professional Eligibility — Rating: 84.5%, October 2024"
"National Certificate II in Housekeeping — TESDA, issued March 2025"
Placement: a "Licenses & Certifications" section under Education (fresh grad) or above it (licensed professional).

Cover letter and the government (CS Form 212)
Cover letter — do you still need one? Optional for mass BPO hiring. REQUIRED for: government (a letter of intent to the agency head), email applications (the email body itself is the letter), and remote/overseas clients. Formula — 3 paragraphs, max 1 page: (1) position + a hook with a number, (2) 2–3 proof points matching the JD, (3) an interview ask + availability. For remote employers, include: internet setup ("150 Mbps fiber with 5G backup"), working hours in THEIR timezone, and async habits ("end-of-day summaries via Loom").
⭐ CS Form 212 (PDS): the government "resume" most people fill out wrong
Applying to government? The actual requirement is the Personal Data Sheet — now Revised 2025. Using the old 2017 form = delay or disqualification. Download it ONLY from csc.gov.ph. Documented mistakes:
• Blank fields instead of "N/A" → the form gets returned
• A name that doesn't match your PSA birth certificate → flagged
• An incomplete Eligibility section (needs: rating, exam date, exam place, license no.) → instant DQ
• A Job Order role labeled "Permanent" → a falsification case
• Legal questions 34–40 answered wrong → the appointment gets voided even after release
• A scanned/pasted signature → rejected; a wet signature is required
• Vague work descriptions → a low score with the Selection Board. Use the bullet formula HERE too: "Processed payroll for 150 employees monthly"
